Run for Young

Raleigh, NC

UPDATE: On Monday, January 10th Christ Church announces that Run for Young 5K will be VIRTUAL ONLY event.  This difficult decision was made by the race organizers at Christ Church at the request of the Episcopal Church Diocese of NC due to the rapid spread of Omicron.

Everyone who has registered has been converted to the virtual 5K.  Registration for the virtual 5K will remain open until January 22.

Runners can get their time into the online results in either of two ways:
  • Use the free ItsYourRace mobile app to track, measure, and time your run/walk.  The app will notify you when you have completed the 5K distance and will prompt you to add your time to the online results.  You can also add a selfie/photo to your results.
  • Time your 5K run/walk however you want (watch, Strava, MapMyRun, etc).  Once completed, find your name in the ONLINE RESULTS.  Click the “Update Time” button next to your name and add your time.

Join us at Christ Chuch on Edenton Street in Raleigh for the 15th Annual Run for Young 5K.

The race takes place at 9 am on Saturday January 22, 2022.

Run for Young is a run/walk planned and managed by Christ Church youth. The race honors the memory of Sadiki Young, a Christ Church member and acolyte, who was a senior at Wakefield High School when he died as the passenger in an alcohol-related accident in 2007. In 2008 the Run for Young was founded by Christ Church youth as a way to both honor the memory of Sadiki and raise awareness of safe driving methods for local teens. Today, a percentage of the proceeds goes to local high schools with high participation numbers in the race for safe driving education programs. The remainder goes to the Christ Church Youth Ministry Endowment Fund, which grants funds and scholarships to Christ Church youth and young adults for community projects, retreats, and events.

For Virtual 5K Runners:
